FAFSA Verification - Parent

Instructions

Twin Cities | Rochester

Instructions

Your student's financial aid application was selected for review in a process called "verification". Once you complete this form, we can continue processing their financial aid application. You may be asked to submit specific types of documentation, such as tax documents.

You must complete this form in one sitting. Your data will not be saved if the form times out (after approximately 15 minutes of no activity) or you close your browser.  This form will take approximately 10 minutes to complete if all necessary documentation is ready.

For this process, your STUDENT may receive a separate email to their university email requesting additional tax documentation or employment confirmation.

This information is being requested in order to determine your student's federal financial aid eligibility at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities/Rochester and will be viewable by Academic Support Resources staff. Declining to submit the information will prevent the Office of Student Finance from finalizing your student's aid eligibility. You are not legally required to submit the information and/or documentation; however, refusal to do so will result in an incomplete financial aid application and therefore your student may not receive financial aid for which you applied.

Case information: Required

About verification

In the verification process, we compare the information that the student provides and tax return transcripts to the information on the student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If the information on their FAFSA is different from the information on the financial documents, the data on their application will be corrected. Their financial aid award amounts will show those changes.

In order to maximize your financial aid eligibility, this form should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the end of the term in which you are seeking financial aid. Forms submitted within two weeks of the end of the term will be reviewed, but financial aid may be limited or no longer available.
