Eligibility
Use this form to request to register as a non-degree undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Once we process your request, you will be able to register for classes online in MyU. You will be able to register for classes in future terms as a non-degree undergraduate without resubmitting this form, until you have two consecutive terms of non-enrollment.
You can submit this form up to 2 terms in advance of when you intend to register as a non-degree student.
Do not use this form for the following reasons:
- You are seeking readmission after being on inactive status. Contact your college office for readmission instructions.
- You want to receive graduate credit and are not admitted to a graduate program. Instead, complete a Registration Request for Graduate Credit form.
Directions
Complete all required fields for identification and academic records purposes. We use the remaining optional fields for advising, course placement, and institutional research. If you have an active University of Minnesota account, you may log into the form using the sign in button below or in the top right corner. Signing in will pull in information from your existing student record. If you do not have an active account, you can still proceed without signing in.
All applicants must provide a valid, unexpired government issued photo identification document in order to complete this request. All photo identification must be clear and recognizable. You may upload multiple files if necessary to support your non-degree registration request.
Please note: Your identification documents will not be stored long term and will only be used for the processing of this request. We cannot use documentation submitted in this form for other processes that might require you to submit the same documents. Documentation and submission information is automatically cleared out of our system on a regular schedule.
Acceptable forms of photo identification include:
- Government issued state ID
- Driver’s license
- Passport
- Visa
- Permanent Resident Card
- Naturalization Card
- Certificate of Citizenship
You will receive an email receipt of the form to confirm that we have received your request.
Timeline
After you submit the form, University staff will review your request. Please allow up to three (3) business days for us to complete this step. We will contact you when your student record has been activated so that you can register.
